An exceptional and very rare Christian Dior custom bridal commission dating back to 1987. The House of Dior has been an enduring icon of Haute Couture. While the House of Dior is still a thriving business today, Dior's untimely death in 1957 left the fashion world without a great dictator of style. Christian Dior designed under his own name for only a decade, but his influence is everlasting. When the talented Marc Bohan took over as head designer in 1960, he continued the Dior tradition of elegant design. This beautiful wedding gown, which cost well over $10,000, is a perfect example of his talent. The fabric used for this garment is breathtaking; white floral-motif scalloped lace with an ethereal nude underlay. The seductive off-shoulder bodice has built-in corset structure and romantic billow-sleeves. The nipped-waist with sculpted side skirting frames the gown exquisitely. The voluminous construction with draped trains is a wonderful nod to Renaissance design. As Dior once said, "Elegance must be the right combination of distinction, naturalness, care and simplicity." This couture treasure is a wonderful mix of these elements. Museum quality.
