Breathtaking Jacques Fath Haute-Couture black lace dress dating back to the mid 1950's. Jacques Fath was a French fashion designer who was considered one of the three dominant influences on postwar couture, the others being Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain. Jacques Fath had a short career; 1937 until his death in 1957. After he died, his name fell into obscurity. In contrast to his great contemporaries, Christian Dior and Cristobal Balenciaga, Fath has been largely forgotten, but deserves to be rediscovered as a talented creator. This iconic Jacques Fath garment is a perfect example of his genius. The garment is fashioned in a heavily-pleated fine black net and floral-lace. To this "little black dress" he added a remarkable slight off-shoulder tiered ruffle bodice which adds so much depth and interest. An elegant nipped-waist pleated full skirt finishes this masterpiece off with the perfect New Look vibe.
