Spectacular Pierre Cardin graphic green and white print silk mod dress dating back to his 1967 collection. In 1951 Cardin opened his own couture house and by 1957, he started a ready-to-wear line; a bold move for a French couturier at the time. This stunning garment is a perfect example of his genius. The mini skirt swing silhouette of this garment is amazing; it really embodies that late 1960's baby doll aesthetic so popular at the time. The elegant bodice is cut high with yards of knife-pleated silk flowing down. Each pleat is secured into place at the hem with a padded round finish. This detail gives the dress weights and adds a signature Cardin touch. I love the long billow-sleeves and optional belted waist. A beautiful piece of wearable couture history.
