Zandra Rhodes was one of the British designers who put London at the forefront of the international fashion scene in the 1970's. Her designs are considered creative statements, dramatic but graceful, bold but feminine. Zandra is renowned for her use of color, and this piece really lets her brilliance to shine through. This dress set was most likely originally meant as a peignoir ensemble but it could easily be worn to any modern event. The construction of the jacket is breathtaking! There are fortuny-style tight knife-pleats on bias-cut fabric sculpted to form an incredible backside and draped shoulder. Extravagant ruffles run down the front. The dress is a tea-length sheath in the matching colorful print with a duel-straps bodice. Beautiful and versatile piece!
This Zandra Rhodes set is in excellent condition with no rips, holes or discoloration. The dress slips over the head and the jacket ties in the front. Both pieces are over 30 years ago and are truly stunning
