  • 1930's Henri Bendel Couture Purple Silk & Black Sequin Deco-Dots Trained Gown

Sparkling gowns from the 1930's era are perennial favorites and this one is breathtaking. Henri Bendel, established in 1895, was an American upscale women's specialty store based in New York City that sold high-end couture fashion. Henri Bendel was the first retailer to have its own fragrance, offer in-store makeovers and stage fashion show. Henri Bendel was the first retailer to sell Coco Chanel designs in the United States. Our dress dates back to early 1930's and as you can see from the pictures, she is a beautiful example of fashion history. The garment's simple fluid structure is so modern; the fine deco-dot sequins are a treasure trove of needle art. I love the rich purple silk underlay which compliments the beaded effortlessly. There is so much detail in the fabrication, you can tell this masterpiece was created with love and care. The bodice is a chic low-cut scoop neck thin strap design. This flows into flattering bias-cut; skims the hip and flares out with impressive length and skirting. It is impeccably seamed and on the level of modern day couture.

    Measurements
    Bust: 36-37 inches
    Waist: 30 inches
    Hips: 38 inches
    Total Length: 58 inches

This Henri Bendel Couture dress is in excellent wearable condition with no discoloration, holes or noticeable stains. Gorgeous hand-finishing throughout. Closes with side metal-snaps. I wouldn't be surprised if this creation was by a famous designer, as it has all the hallmarks of a French Haute-Couture piece from this era. An investment dress that will increase in value.
