  • 1930's Lewis Aronson Couture Floral Ruched Silk Velvet Bias-Cut Gown

    ID: 1114223
    Size: small
    Condition: Excellent

A gorgeous Lewis Aronson floral silk-velvet bias cut gown dating back to the late 1930's. As shown Irma Amelia de Malkharzouny, Duchess of Leeds, wore a Lewis Aronson gown for her February 1938 Harper's Bazaar feature. The luxurious floral silk velvet used has a romantic vibe that I find irresistible. The bodice has a unique high ruched neckline that flows into a low plunge backside with sash bow. The nipped waist falls into an hourglass ruched bias-cut; the piece work to create this shape in particular is extraordinary. It is amazing that a gown with this amount of detail and presence can literally feel almost weightless but it does. So romance and rare.

    Measurements (varies due to bias-cut)
    Bust: 32-34 inches
    Waist: 24-26 inches
    Hips: up to 36 inches
    Total Length: 59 inches

This incredible 1930's Lewis Aronson couture gown is in beautiful condition with no fade, discoloration or alternations. Only signs of age are a minor pin-sized hole hidden by the neck ruching and some faint spots which get lost in the print. Please message for detailed pictures. Garment closes which a series of metal snaps and hidden metal-zipper. Though the zipper works great, the original pull is missing. A rare piece of wearable couture that will only go up in value.
