  • 1932 Tallulah Bankhead Movie-Worn Beaded Blush Silk Bias Cut Deco Gown & Jacket

A breathtaking blush-peach silk gown and jacket set worn by Tallulah Bankhead in the 1932 Paramount film 'Devil and the Deep'. Bankhead wore this ensemble for the first thirty minutes of this film. The halter t-style gown is embellished with gorgeous rosettes created using seed beads, steel beads and sparkling rhinestones. The fabric itself is of the highest couture quality. Silk belt has an art deco inspired jeweled closure. The matching bolero jacket is a statement piece on it's own. I love the dramatric long tails which wrap around the waistline. The gorgeous sleeves have a dramatic billow met by long fitted cuffs. A wonderful example of true Old Hollywood history.

    Measurements
    Bust: 33-34 inches
    Waist: 25 inches
    Hips: up to 36 inches
    Total Length: 62 inches

This 1932 Tallulah Bankhead "Devil and the Deep" gown comes with original studio markings and clear pictures of her in the ensemble. Normal signs of movie wear-there was fur attached to the jacket in the film which is no longer present and some scattered little holes by the back skirt hem which look to be from Tallulah's heels. Some minor missing beadwork but no serious stains or discoloration. Perfectly working side hidden closures. There were only two, maybe three made for production so the odds of finding another are next to none. Paramount ladies wardrobe stamp and printed BY7/AE7 original markings in place. A rare piece of wearable couture Old Hollywood history that will only go up in value.
