1933 Fay Wray Autographed Fashions Hand-Painted Gold Snake Velvet Gown

Extremely rare and gorgeously unique 1930's Sears Autographed Fashions "Fay Wray" labeled gown, who was most famously known as the lead actress in the 1933 film King Kong. Hollywood certainly didn’t destroy Paris as the fashion capital of the world, but it was during this time of the Great Depression that it became a center of fashion for women who couldn’t afford to pay custom made couture prices. This type of gown wasn't actually worn by Fay Wray but instead a marketing strategy; Hollywood and the Stars were partnering with the new mass clothing retailers like Sears. Together, they promoted clothing on a scale and level of sophistication which appears to be the first form of 'influencers'. The gown is fashion in mid-weight black silk velvet with metallic gold snakes painted throughout. The snake tongue's are even beaded! The bodice has a beautiful draped neckline with lower backside. I love the chic mutton-sleeves with covered button wrists. This figure flattering garment nips in for an hourglass waist while skims the hip in such an elegant design. A true piece of Old Hollywood fashion history.

This 1930's Sears Autographed Fashions gown is in very good wearable condition with no rips, holes or stains. Perfectly working side hook and eye closures.. Signs of wear are two little repairs to the silk-velvet which are not noticeable when worn and some age cracking to the metallic gold paint. This rare piece of fashion history is over 90 years old yet reads so modern.
