A truly breathtaking and incredibly timeless Jean Dessès black silk-chiffon 'petal' dress dating back to his documented 1955 fall-winter collection. Jean Dessès dresses are rare, unique and highly collectible. He is one of the most important designers of the 20th century and was a designated Haute Couture house under the official Chambre Syndicale de la Couture. Fashioned from exquisite black silk chiffon, this beauty has everything you look for when searching for this designer. The strapless bodice has fully boned corsetry with intricate pintucking and a banded shelf-bust design. The hourglass nipped waist flows into yards and yards of complex petals on a full 'New Look' style
skirt. There are literally hundreds of individually finished and applied silk-chiffon petals placed onto a luxurious silk taffeta. The craftsmanship is simply amazing; the concept reads so modern and looks sensational when you walk! The time spent to create this masterpiece is astonishing. This stunning Jean Desses Paris haute couture dress is in wearable condition with no stains or discoloration. Presents beautifully. The garment closes with original French éclair painted back hand-set metal zipper. There is gorgeous corset boning throughout the bodice to keep the shape. After close inspection we found the waist sash and outer layer of silk-chiffon on the back bodice no longer present. We also found some small holes to the interior silk taffeta lining and loose pintuck stitching which can be professionally restored. Please message for detailed pictures.
