  • 1973 Bill Gibb Couture Embroidered Ivory Satin Mutton-Sleeve Jacket & Vest

    ID: 1125231
    Size: small
    Condition: excellent

An ultra ethereal Bill Gibb of London couture two-piece ivory satin jacket set dating back to this 1972 fall-winter collection. His garments are very collectible and found in museum's around the globe. Bill Gibb, a forgotten fashion hero from the Scottish Highlands, incarnated the romantic essence of British style. While attending the Royal College of Art his fellow fashion students were Ossie Clark and Zandra Rhodes, who shared an unbridled vision. Gibb was one of the most influential and famous designers in 1970's Britain and this look is a wonderful example of his aesthetic during this time period. The front center has beautiful stylized floral embroidery in shades of pink, beige and baby blue. The collar is cut wide and there four large woodgrain buttons are the end of each mutton sleeve. I love how the whole jacket has pink overstitching. The matching gilet vest has the same woodgrain buttons and really takes the look to a new level. It's a timeless set simply because it exudes an undeniably unique flair, and yet remains incredibly current.

    Measurements
    Jacket
    Bust: 35-36 inches

This Bill Gibb designer two-piece set is in beautiful condition with no rips, holes or alternations. Jacket has hidden front pockets. Only sign of age is one pin-sized mark on the gilet vest. Please message for detailed pictures. A wonderful wearable investment piece that will only continue to increase in value.
