  • 1990's Jacqueline de Ribes Metallic Blue Lurex Silk Asymmetric Bias-Cut Gown

    ID: 0909233
    Size: small
    Condition: Excellent

A truly breathtaking and rare early 1990's metallic pale gold and blue lurex silk asymmetric bias-cut gown from the talented Countess Jacqueline de Ribes. A muse to Haute Couture designers, de Ribes had at her disposal their drapers, cutters, and fitters in acknowledgment of their esteem for her taste and originality. Ultimately, she used this experience to create her own successful design business, which she directed until 1995. The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute even hosted an exhibition focusing on her internationally renowned style, whose originality and elegance established her as one of the most celebrated fashion personas of the twentieth century. This gorgeous Jacqueline de Ribes gown is the perfect example of her genius and still has an unworn $3840 price tag from Saks Fifth Avenue attached. With inflation, that would equal to almost $9000 today! The garment is fashioned in luxurious metallic gold accented deco motif sapphire-blue lurex silk. There is a sensational asymmetric draped one-sleeve construction which reads so modern. I love the ruched bias-cut design which draws attention to the waist while skimming the hips effortlessly. The side skirt draping swag finishes this look with such a glamorous vibe. Definitely feels like the type of gown Countess Jacqueline would have worn herself.

    Measurements
    Bust: 31-34 inches
    Waist: 23-26 inches
    Hips: up to 36 inches
    Total Length: 57 inches

This Jacqueline de Ribes designer dress is in beautiful condition with no rips, stains or discoloration. Fully lined in silk with perfectly working side-back zipper. This garment is over 30 years old and has never been worn. Original price tag still attached. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
