  • 1993 Vivienne Westwood Runway Metallic Denim Corset Bustier Top & Pants

    ID: 1113232
    Size: small
    Condition: excellent

A truly sensational and highly coveted Vivienne Westwood metallic turquoise foiled denim two-piece corset ensemble dating back to her iconic 1993 spring-summer 'Grand Hotel' runway collection. Vivienne Westwood is one of the most influential and recognizable British designers of the past 40 years. She began designing clothes in 1971 with the opening of her first shop, Let It Rock, at 430 King's Road. In 1976, her then lover and business partner, Malcolm McLaren, guaranteed her status among the stars when he dressed the Sex Pistols, the British band he managed, in clothes from the boutique. She was named British Designer of the Year, both in 1990 and 1991. The following December, she was awarded an OBE in recognition of her services to British fashion and in 1998 she won the Queen's Export Award.
This highly innovative and super seductive boned corset top with matching jeans runway look is a perfect example of her genius. Made from expertly treated cotton denim, both pieces have an iridescent metallic foiled coating that makes the set so eye-catching. This special couture style coating gives it almost a liquid under-the-sea mermaid vibe. Westwood cleverly inverts flattened seams with raw edges, showing small bits of the unpainted denim. The wide neck corset is a statement piece in it's own right and could be worn with so many other pieces. It is constructed to cinch you in at the waist with all the interior boning and push up the breasts in an incredibly flattering fashion. The matching jeans work so well with the corset top. You can wear the pants cuffed like we styled or let down for a long supermodel length. I love the bold butt pockets and red stitching throughout. The combination of unique fabrication, alluring sex appeal, and exceptional craftsmanship makes this denim set a rare and noteworthy look that reflects the creativity of Vivienne Westwood. We added many pictures so you can appreciate this epic museum worthy achievement.

The 1993 Vivienne Westwood corset and jeans ensemble is in beautiful condition with no rips, stains or holes. Corset and pants both have original zippers. The interior boned corset structure is immaculate. Only sign of age is one small nick on the corset edge. A wonderful and wearable piece of fashion history.
