  • 1946 Jourdelle of Hollywood Novelty Flying Firebirds Crepe Draped Gown

A sensational and highly coveted Jourdelle of Hollywood documented flying phoenix firebirds rayon crepe gown dating back to 1946. The Smithsonian holds a similar example within their collection which is attributed to the famous costume designer Gilbert Adrian. This gown is really everything you look for in a 1940's showstopper. The craftsmanship is gorgeous; large scale firebird appliqués in vibrant shades of yellow and orange. The elegant bodice has a classic short cap-sleeve design with padded shoulders and narrowing hourglass waist. This figure flattering garment accentuates the bust while skimming the hips with it's unique draped skirting. The garment finishes with a perfect side slit. A beautiful slice of Old Hollywood history that reads so fresh and modern.

    Measurements
    Bust: 35-36 inches
    Waist: 26 inches
    Hips: 38 inches
    Total Length: 60 inches

This Jourdelle of Hollywood designer dress is in vey good condition with no stains or alternations. Presents beautifully. After close inspection we found some faint fade by the top shoulders and a few tiny holes by the back skirting. Please message for detailed pictures. Perfectly working original side metal-zipper. A wearable investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
