  • 1950's Howard Greer Couture Sage-Green Draped Chiffon Strapless Gown

A breathtaking and truly ethereal Howard Greer of Beverly Hills custom couture gown dating back to the mid-1950's. I can not begin to express how beautifully constructed this rare piece of wearable art is. Howard Greer was credited by Vogue magazine with "a sixth sense about the fashion future." He was the first major Hollywood costume designer to take the leap of establishing his own couture house. Greer specialized in dresses that he specifically designed to look captivating seated at a table; focusing on unforgettable necklines. His pieces took weeks to complete and required numerous fittings. They were also exorbitantly priced. This stunning sage-green sculpted gown is a perfect example of his genius. The dress is fashioned in the highest quality silk-chiffon that seems to float as you move. I love the low-cut fully boned strapless bodice with elegant ruched detailing. The romantic pink-rose floral applique Howard Greer decided to add works so effortlessly well with the look. The nipped waist narrowing skirt with complex draped construction emphasizes a woman's seductive shape without adding any bulk or volume to the actual hips. The backside cascading train finishes this gown off with perfect "Old Hollywood" style.

Measurements (one inch seam allowance throughout bodice)
    Bust: 32-33 inches
    Waist: 24 inches
    Hips: up to 36 inches
Length top to waist: 10 inches
Length waist to hem: 42 inches

This Howard Greer Couture custom-made designer couture garment is in excellent condition with no rips. holes or alternations. Perfectly working back metal-zipper and corset style bodice boning. Only signs of age are a small faint spot by the hip and some wear near the bottom back train hemline. Please message for detailed pictures. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
