  • 1969 Hanae Mori Couture Floral Silk-Chiffon Full Length Jacket & Pants

An iconic and instantly recognizable Hanae Mori couture three-piece ensemble dating back to the late 1960's. Whilst on a Paris holiday in 1960, Mori had a fateful fitting with Coco Chanel. She claimed this meeting changed her life and she challenged herself to realize her own dream of designing haute couture. By 1965 she had launched her own line and had orders from prestigious stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
This is everything you look for in a Hanae Mori creation. Made of feather light silk-chiffon that has been custom screened with one of her spectacular orange to magenta psychedelic floral prints. She double layers the printed fabric with the same motif to create a beautiful shadow effect. The center cut of the full-length jacket has that draped goddess feel that collectors crave when they look for the best of Hanae's pieces. The bodice has a chic high-neck with a peek-a-boo front and lean, long wrist-button sleeves. You can also unhook the waist for a more relaxed lounge look. The matching cigarette pants are a statement piece in their own right. I love the flattering nipped high-waist and built in cummerbund style belt. Hanae is the only woman of Japanese descent to have presented on the Paris and New York Runways. She is also the first Asian woman to be admitted as an official haute couture house. You can clearly see why this is a magnificent example of her work.
