This one-of-a-kind dress debuted in Paris and has been authenticated by their historical archives in Milan Italy. Versace’s creations were enjoyed by the super wealthy but his impact was felt across a wider section of society through diffusion lines. Stylistically accessible and instantly recognizable, Versace’s fearless designs came to epitomize the 1980's and 1990's.
This lavish strapless cocktail dress is a beautiful celebration of Chagall and Cyrk Polish circus poster art. Cyrk emerged in 1962 and is characterized here by the theme of playing cards, embroidered rhombuses and micro-pleated treatment of fabric. The jewels are mesmerizing and catch the light in the most extraordinary way. The heavily-pleated silk body of the dress is the most gorgeous chartreuse color. This is very similar to the pieces custom made for Whitney Houston and Jane Fonda. I adore the strapless nipped-waist bodycon silhouette which is an ultra flattering. This ultra rare 1990 Gianni Versace documented couture dress is in excellent condition with no rips, holes or alternations. The custom beadwork is all hand-sewn. The inside is immaculate and all hand-finished with original back zipper. After close inspection we found some faint discoloration by the left underarm which is not noticeable when worn.
