  • 1990 Thierry Mugler Couture Documented Rainbow Bodycon Cut-Out Dress

Iconic 1990 Thierry Mugler Couture documented rainbow swirl dress in the most flattering body-con shape. This legendary French fashion designer is known for bold fashion and edgy, sometimes even campy, theatricality. In the 1980's, he was famous for staging dramatic choreographed fashion shows and experimenting with unusual materials. Though Mugler stopped designing his couture and ready-to-wear lines in 2003 to focus on photography and costume design, his work has a lasting legacy. This colorful abstract wave garment is a perfect example of his genius. Not only is this little number very alluring; it is true wearable art. The bodice is a seductive curved plunge with illusion net cut-outs. I adore the hourglass nipped-waist and asymmetric hemline. This rare dress has been featured in many publications including "Fashion: A History from the 18th to the 20th Century" printed by Taschen page 615 (Collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute). A museum quality showstopper that will never go out of style.

    Measurements (marked 44)
    Bust: 38-40 inches
    Waist: up to 30 inches
    Hips: up to 40 inches
    Longest Length: 37 inches

This documented Thierry Mugler Couture designer dress is in excellent condition with no rips or holes. Perfectly working original back-zipper and fully lined. Only sign of age are some faint watermarks and surface spots which are not noticeable when worn. Please message for detailed pictures. A rare wearable piece of fashion history and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
