  • 1984 Bob Mackie Documented Fully Beaded Red Silk High Low Micro-Mini Dress

    ID: 1204233
    Size: medium
    Condition: excellent

A truly sensational and highly coveted Bob Mackie couture ruby-red beaded silk high-low waterfall hem mini dress dating back to his iconic 1984 fall/winter documented collection. As shown, this well documented runway micro-mini was also the choice look for Lee Remick in Stephen Sondheim's Follies! Bob Mackie will definitely go down in history as one of the great American designers. He began his career as a Hollywood costuming sketch artist, working for both Edith Head and Jean Louis. While working with designer Ray Aghayan, Mackie soon began creating evening clothing for the divas who would make him a household name- most notably Carol Burnett, Raquel Welch, Diana Ross and of course, Cher. These early Bob Mackie creations are rare, as they were not mass marketed, unlike the later boutique label, and were incredibly expensive at the time. This ultra seductive showstopper is a perfect example of his genius. The dress is of the highest quality, fully adorned with bugle beads and sparkling crystals. The graphic deco motif mixed with the micro-mini length is such a nod to 1920's fashion, totally exuding an effortless modern flapper vibe. It could be paired with hot pants or feathers; the styling options are endless. The bodice is cut with a low plunge and closes at the back neck while two strands of crystals cascade down the backless design. I especially love the high to low pointed waterfall mini hemline which is so dynamic with movement. I can totally see Cher or Tina Turner wearing this masterpiece. The pictures say it all!

    Measurements
    Bust: 34-36 inches
    Waist: 28 inches
    Hips: 38 inches
    Front Length: 30 inches
    Back Length: 42 inches

This Bob Mackie designer dress is in beautiful condition with no rips, stains or holes. The construction of this garment is impeccable. Fully lined in silk of the same ruby-red hue. Perfectly working back center zipper which is cleverly worked into the design. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
