  • 1951 Christian Dior Haute-Couture Beaded Lesage Embroidery Pink Satin Dress Coat

The House of Dior has been an enduring icon of Haute-Couture. While the House of Dior is still a thriving business today, Dior's untimely death in 1957 left the fashion world without a great dictator of style. Christian Dior designed under his own name for only a decade, but his influence is everlasting. Here is a rare opportunity to own a breathtaking 1951 Christian Dior design commissioned by a private client before he passed away. This gorgeous formal coat is fashioned in luxurious champagne pink fully-lined silk satin. Exquisite hand-stitched pearl beadwork, metallic floral motif cording and heavily embellished crystals in relief by the House of Lesage decorate the entire piece. The fabric itself is a masterpiece; couture embroidery houses such as Lesage were used for embellishment and represent hundreds of hours of artistic handwork. I love the chic collarless design with cardigan style open front and 3/4 length sleeves. It closes under the flips, with a row of asymmetric silk covered buttons in the same beautiful fabric. The swing shape flows into complex winged sides which really dazzles the eye. It is an exquisite example of Haute-Couture from one of the most important houses of the modern era. As Dior himself once said, "Elegance must be the right combination of distinction, naturalness, care and simplicity." This iconic treasure is a wonderful mix of these elements.

    Total Length: 50 inches

This stunning Christian Dior Haute-Couture numbered '13913' garment from their 1951 Spring/Summer collection is in unaltered condition with gorgeous hand-finished construction throughout. Only signs of noticeable wear are areas of missing beadwork from weakened thread and slight abrasion around the neckline seam. After close inspection, we also found some very minor surface spots which seem like they will lift with professional attention. Priced accordingly. An iconic example of wearable art and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
