  • 2005 Christian Dior by John Galliano Colorful Floral Silk Bias-Cut Dress

A simply stunning and highly coveted Christian Dior colorful psychedelic floral print silk bias-cut maxi dress. This rare Christian Dior treasure from John Galliano's impressive 2005 spring-summer collection is a perfect example of his genius. John Galliano is widely considered one of the most innovative and influential fashion designers of the early twenty-first century. He mingled his references in often surprising juxtapositions to create extravagant yet intricately engineered and meticulously tailored clothes. This dress is everything you look for in Galliano era Dior! The fabric itself is a masterpiece; a vibrant psychedelic floral print on the softest 'light as a feather' double layered silk chiffon. The entire dress has looped fringe, with some pieces intentionally left to dangle, and the effect is sensational with movement. The asymmetric draped paneling gives the garment a perfect amount of edge. I love how the skirt falls longer at the back and the sides are cut higher as well. There are slits up the side which gives you a flash of leg when you walk. This flattering bias-cut emphasizes a woman's seductive shape without adding any bulk or volume to the actual hips. I think this would be such a beautiful resort or wedding guest look. As shown, Alek Wek attended the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum's Young Collectors Council Artists Ball hosted by Dior in the same dress and Riley Keough was photographed in the same print with John Galliano at the 2004 fall-winter haute couture Dior runway show. This dress really is a rare wearable piece of fashion history.
