  • 1972 Hanae Mori Couture Documented Scenic Bird Print Silk-Chiffon Caftan Dress

A gorgeous, museum-quality and instantly recognizable caftan gown by Hanae Mori dating back to her 1972 couture collection. This iconic dress was famously featured on Moyra Swan in the November issue of Vogue Magazine. Whilst on a Paris holiday in 1960, Mori had a fateful fitting with Coco Chanel. She claimed this meeting changed her life and she challenged herself to realize her own dream of designing haute-couture. She returned to her small Tokyo office, where she had been designing significant numbers of costumes for directors including Ozu, Oshima and Kurosawa. By 1965 she had launched her own collection and had orders from prestigious stores such as Neiman Marcus. This gown is everything you look for in a Hanae Mori garment. Made of feather light persimmon color silk-chiffon that has been custom screened with one of her stunning scenic bird psychedelic prints. The dress also has a built-in sleeveless print underlay so it literally feels weightless! The asymmetric cuffed one-sleeve bodice is pure genius. Its the perfect piece to wear during the day with sandals or sexy platforms for night. This is that unique, bold garment every fashionista looks for.

    Measurements
    Bust: 34-35 inches

    Total Length: 52 inches

This Hanae Mori Couture documented dress is in excellent condition with no rips, fade or holes. Closes with a hand-set back-zipper. Only sign of age is one faint spot by the side ruffle flounce. This documented dress is a wearable investment piece that will only go up in value.
