  • 1953 Irene Lentz Couture Black Velvet & Mink Fur Puff-Sleeve Gown Ensemble

Irene Lentz stunned the world in the 1930's, 40's and 50's with her ingeniously constructed, sophisticated, couture-standard garments. After charming Los Angeles society and celestial celebrities with her jaw-dropping custom work at Bullock’s Wilshire, the designer was plucked to helm the illustrious glamour factory of stunning costumes at MGM Studios. The two time Academy Award nominated Irene is best known for her work with Silver Screen Legends Marlene Dietrich, Ingrid Bergman, Lana Turner, Ginger Rogers, and Doris Day. Desiring to offer her designs to women off the screen, she founded the manufacturing company Irene, Inc. with investment support from twenty-five of the nation’s leading department stores. This breathtaking black silk-velvet and genuine white mink-fur ensemble, dating back to her 1953 collection, is a perfect example of her genius. The seductive low scoop-neck bodice has a gorgeous sculpted puff-sleeves. She then creates a matching sleeveless button-down full length vest for extra drama. I adore the hourglass nipped-waist construction which is so incredibly flattering. This showstopper accentuates the bust and flares out in a beautiful back train-skirted design. A true collectible and definitive piece of American couture fashion history.

    Measurements

    Hip: 40 inches
    Total Length: 60 inches

This stunning Irene Lentz designer gown and matching full-length vest are in excellent condition with no rips, holes or stains. The inside is immaculate and hand-finished. Perfectly working back metal-zipper. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
