  • 1984 Bob Mackie Couture Ivory Beaded Silk One-Shoulder Goddess Gown

    ID: 1204232
    Size: medium
    Condition: excellent

A truly breathtaking and highly coveted Bob Mackie heavily beaded trompe l'oeil ivory silk goddess gown dating back to his documented 1984 fall/winter collection. As shown, the beautiful Connie Cook glided down the runway arm in arm with Mackie while wearing the same look. Bob Mackie will definitely go down in history as one of the great American designers. He began his career as a Hollywood costuming sketch artist, working for both Edith Head and Jean Louis. While working with designer Ray Aghayan, Mackie soon began creating evening clothing for the divas who would make him a household name- most notably Carol Burnett, Diana Ross and of course, Cher. These early Bob Mackie creations are rare, as they were not mass marketed and were incredibly expensive at the time. This heavenly gown is a perfect example of his aesthetic and unique genius. I can totally see Cher herself wearing it! The dress is fashioned in the highest quality lined semi-sheer silk and it feels so luxurious when on. The complex silver and gold beading done in a stunning trompe l'oeil draped rope motif. This totally plays up the Grecian goddess vibe of the dress in the most glamorous way. The bodice has a seductive asymmetric one-shoulder. The flattering slight column silhouette skims the hips and allows one to really party. I especially love the long supermodel length with flirty side slit. A museum worthy gown that would make an epic red carpet or bridal moment.

    Measurements
    Bust: 34 inches
    Waist: 28 inches
    Hips: up to 38 inches
    Total Length: 63 inches

This well-documented Bob Mackie designer gown is in beautiful condition with no rips, notable stains or holes. The construction of this garment is impeccable. Perfectly working side zipper. Only sign of age are a few missing beads which is hard to notice when worn. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
