  • 1940's Jeanne Lanvin Haute Couture Black Lace Strapless Asymmetric Tiered Dress

    ID: 0809202
    Size: extra small
    Condition: VGood

Breathtaking Jeanne Lanvin haute couture black Chantilly-lace dress dating back to the mid-late 1940's. The founder Lanvin was recognized for her innovative approach to fashion as well as for her fine craftsmanship. When she conceived a garment she would select fabrics, colors, shaping techniques, and ornamentation which she deemed would enhance a woman’s femininity, beauty, and youthfulness. Lanvin was best known for her modern looking clothing that gave women freedom of movement. This ultra elegant dress is fashioned from the highest quality French Chantilly-lace with silk lining throughout. The strapless bodice has a gorgeous scalloped trim and sculpted nipped waist with inner waist stay. My favorite part is the bold asymmetric skirting which really catches the eye. This tiered design, lined with horsehair to keep shape, flatters the figure by not added any extra bulk to the hip. Instead, there is a stunning rose applique detail. You do not easily find this level of workmanship on garments today.

    Measurements
    Bust: 32 inches
    Waist: 24 inches
    Hips: up to 38 inches
Length top to waist: 10 inches
Shortest length waist to hem: 36 inches
Longest length waist to hem: 48 inches

This 1940's Jeanne Lanvin haute couture dress is in very good wearable condition with no alternations and stains. Perfectly working side metal zipper in place. The inside skirt has additional horsehair to keep the shape and is all hand-finished. Only sign of wear are some minor breaks to the lace, mostly around the bodice. Very hard to notice due to the black silk underlay. Please message for any and all detailed pictures. A rare wearable investment piece that will only go up in value.
