  • 1968 Mila Schön Italian Couture Black Purple Wool Mod Target Coat Dress

    ID: 1127213
    Size: large
    Condition: Excellent

An important and truly stunning Mila Schön Couture black and purple mod coat dress dating back to her 1968-69 fall/winter collection. She was living in Milan with her husband when she decided to enter the world of Italian fashion. This charming and elegant lady of aristocratic origins had no cutting or sewing experience but in 1958 she set up a workshop in via San Pietro all’Orto. Her first collection of coats and dresses were produced and their refined touch was not missed by the elegant Milanese women. By the end of the decade, Mila Schön was offering dresses that were compared to works of art such as those by Josef Albers, Calder and Fontana. The new representative of the made-in-Italy played with geometric shapes and optical illusions, inlays of colors and precious materials, attractions and multiplications of images, always inspired by contemporary artists. The unique design on this dress takes its inspiration right out of mod subculture with its classic target applique pockets. The bodice has a chic graphic collar with lean, long tailored sleeves. The flattering A-line back pleat construction emphasizes a woman's gorgeous shape without adding any bulk or volume to the actual hips. Pieces like this are becoming harder and harder to find due to their historical value. A beautiful museum quality wearable treasure that every fashionista looks for.
