  • 1998 Pierre Balmain Haute Couture Sheer Illusion Applique Black Tulle Lace Gown

    ID: 0216203
    Size: small
    Condition: VGood

Breathtaking Pierre Balmain haute couture runway gown from when Oscar de la Renta was head designer. The House of Balmain always creates a very sculptural quality which is allied with a ladylike essence. This sheer illusion showstopper from their 1998 spring/summer collection is a wonderful example of the brand's genius. The bodice has lean, long see-through sleeves and a hand-crafted leaf motif appliqué. This same style nude illusion appliqué work is repeated on the backside with matching covered button detail. The artistry gives a strength to the silhouette. The large-scale soutache embroidery with nude underlay really catches the eye and takes the idea of a red carpet gown to new levels. The scalloped hemline is the icing on the cake. Overall construction is true couture level as one would expect from such a skilled fashion house. A timeless museum quality show-stopper.

    Measurements
    Bust: 33-34 inches
    Waist: 26 inches
    Hips: up to 38 inches
    Sleeve Length: 24 inches
    Total Length: 58 inches

This stunning Pierre Balmain Haute Couture gown is in excellent condition with no stains, fade or discoloration. Originally cost well over $10,000 when purchased. Perfectly working hidden hand-set back zipper and interior waist stays. Only sign of age is some little tears to the tulle skirt which is hardly noticeable when worn. We have showed an example but if you need more pictures, feel free to message. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
