Spectacular Pierre Cardin oatmeal linen pantsuit from his 1968 collection. In 1951 Cardin opened his own couture house and by 1957, he started a ready-to-wear line; a bold move for a French couturier at the time. The look most associated with Cardin is the "Space Age" collections of the 1960's which made some of the most futuristic clothing of the era. This stunning ensemble is a perfect example of his genuine. The construction of this garment is amazing; the fabric has stitched relief pattern which is lightly padded within, to create depth and texture. The structured blouse has a chic tortoise shell button double-breasted, back belt design with side pockets. The armholes have a winged effect; adding a signature Cardin touch. The expertly tailored slacks are just as beautiful with their flattering high-waist, straight leg construction.
