  • 1969 Pierre Cardin Yellow Wool & Black Patent Bullseye Mod Target Pinafore Dress

Magnificent Pierre Cardin mod pinafore dress in a vibraint marigold yellow wool from his iconic 1969 documented collection. The same iconic dress is in The Metropolitan Museum of Art's permanent collection. In 1951 Cardin opened his own couture house and by 1957, he started a ready-to-wear line; a bold move for a French couturier at the time. The look most associated with Cardin is the “Space Age” collections of the 1960's and early 1970's which made some of the most futuristic clothing of the era. This stunning modernist miniskirt with suspenders is a perfect example of his genuine. The construction of this garment is amazing- signature relief applique work and a bold convertible design. I adore the dramatic mod "bullseye" black parent leather detail! The figure flattering a-line silhouette shows a woman's shape without adding any bulk or volume to the actual hips. A beautiful piece of wearable designer history. "The clothing I prefer are those I invent for a life that doesn’t yet exist– the world of tomorrow." Pierre Cardin

    Measurements
    Low Waist: 32 inches
    Hips: 38 inches
    Total Skirt Length: 16 inches

This Pierre Cardin documented pinafore is in excellent condition with no stains or discoloration. Freshly dry-cleaned. Fully lined with perfectly working zipper. Only sign of age is some minor moth bites (example picture shown) which do not go through the fabric. Please message for detailes. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
