  • 1972 Pierre Cardin Documented Black & Blue Block-Color Wool Mod Dress

Spectacular Pierre Cardin black and blue documented block-color wool dress from his 1972 Fall-Winter collection. In 1951 Cardin opened his own couture house and by 1957, he started a ready-to-wear line; a bold move for a French couturier at the time. The look most associated with Cardin are the "Space Age" collections which made some of the most futuristic clothing of the era. This bold showstopper is a perfect example of his genuine. The construction of this garment is amazing; the soft wool fabric is carefully appliqued to create a stunning op-art pattern to create depth and texture. I love the mock button-down front and slightly winged shoulders; adding a signature Cardin touch. The tailored a-line mod silhouette which is so figure flattering. A beautiful piece of wearable couture history. "The clothing I prefer are those I invent for a life that doesn't yet exist- the world of tomorrow!" Pierre Cardin

    Measurements
    Bust: 32-33 inches
    Waist: 27 inches
    Hips: 36 inches
    Total Length: 39 inches

This Pierre Cardin documented dress is in excellent condition with no rips, stains, holes or discoloration. Perfectly working back-zipper. Garment is fully lined. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
