  • 1980's Betsey Johnson Punk Label Sequin Stretch Crop Top & Leggings

    ID: 0704232
    Size: small
    Condition: Excellent

An ultra seductive and very rare Betsey Johnson punk label sequin stretch cotton knit crop-top set dating back to the early 1980's. Almost immediately after graduating from college, Betsey Johnson made her first splash in the New York fashion industry by winning Mademoiselle magazine's Guest Editor Contest. Only one year later, in 1965, Johnson landed a job as a designer at Paraphernalia; an offbeat New York clothing boutique. Taking her cues from the more avant-garde London fashion scene, Johnson—along with designer Mary Quant and artist Andy Warhol—helped pioneer what became known as the Youthquake movement in fashion, art and culture. Years later her design aesthetic transformed into more of a 'glam rock street' vibe which can be seen through her punk label. This sensational set is fashioned in mid-weight stretch cotton with sequin ribbon bows throughout. I love the off-shoulder design that shows off the collarbone and the lean, long sleeves. Fitted leggings in the same sequin cotton knit fabric complete the look. An iconic designer ensemble that reads so incredibly modern.

Measurements (can vary a bit due to stretch)
    Blouse
    Bust: 30-34 inches
    Sleeve Length: 24 inches
    Leggings
    Low Waist: 24-28 inches

This early 1980's Betsy Johnson set is in beautiful condition with no rips, stains or holes. A rare slice of wearable Betsey Johnson history!
