Breathtaking blush-pink creation by the famous Alice Pollock label. Pollock is known for starting Quorum, a London boutique and manufacturing business, in 1964. The following year she was joined in the business by Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell. Together they designed and made the clothing that filled the shop and attracted the attention of the fashion conscious. In 1969 the business was acquired by Radley, but Pollock continued to design for the label into the 1970's. This 1930's inspired dress is a wonderful example of her genius. The bodice is a seductive ascot-bow tie low-cut plunge with dramatic lace-illusion sleeves. I love the tons of covered buttons that decorate the front. The lower mermaid skirt is added in pointed inset seamed pieces which is insanely hard to do. This figure flattering garment accentuates the bust, skims the hip and flares out below the knee in a fishtail design. It is impeccably seamed and on the level of modern day couture.
