Undiminished by time, this 1920's ivory-creme flapper dance dress still casts its magical spell. This exceptional French beauty is fashioned in three different couture fabrics- creme silk chiffon, metallic gold lace and robin-egg blue silk crepe. It is then lavishly embellished with shimmering pearl and silver tone glass-beads in a gorgeous art deco motif. Prong-set jewels and rhinestone paste appliques add the perfect amount of sparkle. The bodice is unbelievable; an ultra flattering double-layered plunge with dramatic sculpted sides. The exacting perfection of the drape construction is beyond compare. My favorite part is the tiered fringe skirting with intertwined side peplum swag and sparkling gold lace underlay. We needed to add many detail pictures so one can appreciate the masterful achievement. Extravagant garments from the 1920's remain a perennial favorite, perhaps because no other period combined such opulence with such youthful flair. The playful silhouette embodies the flapper's "party till dawn" attitude while the luxurious textiles whispers "wealth and status." The mark of a truly fashionable garment is that it remains stylish and timeless 90 years later, as does this ethereal couture piece. The pictures say it all.

This 1920's French flapper dress is in excellent wearable condition with no rips or holes. I wouldn't be surprised if this creation was by a famous designer, as it has all the hallmarks of a couture piece from this era. Matching inner slip still attached. Slips on over the head with no additional closures. Hand-stitching throughout. Only signs of age looks to be mildew spots especially on the crepe sash, minor discoloration to the back bodice and some missing beadwork which is not noticeable when worn. A rare wearable investment dress that will only increase in value.
