There are lots of lovely 1930's garments still around, but every once in a while I come across one that sets my heart a flutter! This is an extraordinarily beautiful and exceptional museum quality 1930's royal purple silk velvet bias-cut gown. Old Hollywood glamour at it's finest. The bodice has a stunning high-neck smocked neckline that flows into the most interesting Victorian style mutton sleeves. Three-dimensional piping loops around the arms and the effect is sensational. I love the curved bodice and backside key-hole cutout. The nipped waist falls into a dramatic full-length hourglass bias-cut. The piece work to create this garment with the softest silk-velvet is extraordinary. It is amazing that a gown with this amount of detail and presence can feel so comfortable but it does. So dramatic and rare.
