Arthur Weiss was one of the most popular American design houses operating during the art-deco movement. The garment's unstructured style is strikingly modern yet the unique metallic surrealist deco-floral embroidery is a treasure trove of antique needle art. A labor intensive, hand-stitched piece like this would have been very high quality at the time. The hazelnut color used for the silk-rayon fabric works beautifully with the pink satin vanity panel insert. The bodice features an ercu lace collar and colorful floral corsage applique. A figure flattering drop-waist skirt is complete with middle bow-tie and unique invert front gathering. The most striking aspect of this exquisite high society dress is the quality. Pieces like this garment represent days and weeks of hard work and dedication towards making the garment look and feel exactly like a slice of heaven.
