Seductive Bob Mackie beaded black silk-jersey gown dating back to his early days of designing. Bob Mackie began his career as a Hollywood costuming sketch artist, working for both Edith Head and Jean Louis. While working with designer Ray Aghayan, Mackie soon began creating evening clothing for the divas who would make him a household name- most notably Carol Burnett, Diana Ross and Cher. Bob Mackie/Ray Aghayan pieces are rare, as they were only made for a few years in the late 1970's. This breathtaking creation is a perfect example of their genius. The entire dress is fashioned from slinky mid-weight silk jersey that hugs is all the right places. The bias-cut bodice has a seductive low-cut sculpted plunge and lean, long zipper-wrist sleeves. The large-scale beaded and sequin red poppy floral motif adds the perfect amount of depth and texture. A rare piece of wearable art by an iconic designer duo.
