This seductive silk-crepe cocktail, in the most beautiful silhouette, is pure couture perfection. Jean Patou's affinity for tailored design and elaborate materials is wonderful for the modern woman. After Jean Patou's death in 1936, Henri Giboulet became creative director for the couture house and when Christian Lacroix took over in 1981, he brought with him loud colors, baroque inspiration, extravagant jewelry and avant-garde sculpting. In 1987 the house ceased its haute-couture activity, leaving behind an archive of iconic designs. This extremely rare raspberry red dress from their iconic 1985-1986 Winter Collection has a timeless femme-fatale feel yet takes the concept of a "little cocktail dress" to new levels. I love the clean sculptural lines and provocative low-cut, plunge bodice. The backside is just as fabulous with it's over-sized draped optional hood! Stylish, feminine luxury that will never go out of style. This is an investment piece that will continue to increase in value. Wonderful condition and a true wearable rarity.
