Andre Courreges launched his Space-Age collection in 1964. The shapes of his clothes were geometric: squares, trapezoids, triangles. The main features of his ultra-modern, uncluttered look spread quickly throughout the fashion world, especially the miniskirt, which he introduced to France. This stunning navy-blue and ivory checkered wool dress from his 1967 collection is a proper example of his vision. Stitched relief pattern throughout, parts of which are padded within, to create an amazing depth. The bodice has an elegant block color button trimmed scoop-neck with tailored short-sleeves and back-belted waist. My favorite part is the over-sized side pockets which is a signature Courreges touch. "The woman who interests me doesn't belong to any particular physical type. She lives a certain life, however. She is active, moves fast, works, is usually young and modern enough to wear modern, intelligent clothes." Andre Courreges
