Halston revolutionized the way women dress and is one of the few designers, alongside Claire McCardell and Norman Norell, to define what is American fashion. Throughout most of the seventies he epitomized the glamour, as well as the decadence of the era, becoming a central figure in the nightlife scene of New York's Studio 54. He was known for his flattering body-conscious clothing in jersey and silks. This breathtaking black and ivory-white evening gown is a perfect example of his genius. The whole garment is fashioned with iridescent glass-beads layered on embroidered silk. The glossiness and suppleness of the sequins give the appearance of a liquid surface, almost becoming a skin on its own! I love the abstract rose-garden floral pattern which is so incredibly modern. The sheer illusion space inside the roses gives the gown a beautiful finished polish. The bodice has gorgeous dolman-sleeves and an ultra flattering "easy-to-wear" blousy cut. The straight column skirt with seductive side-slit finishes this garment off with the perfect femme fatale vibe. A very sensual dress that will become a favorite in your wardrobe.
