A gorgeous Karl Lagerfeld charcoal gray wool double-breasted princess coat dating back to the early 1990's. Karl joined Chanel as creative director in 1983, putting his couture stamp on the brand and shaping it to what we know and love Chanel to be today. As well as working for an abundance of iconic designer labels, in 1984 he also launched his very own brand. This chic coat is definitely a wonderful example of his genius. I love the high-nehru collar and double-breasted KL logo buttons. The cuff detail and back belt add wondeful depth to the garment. The winged trench style flap back is such a fantastic design element. Shaped with princess line seams, the figure flattering cut narrows the waist without adding bulk in the hips. The mark of a truly fashionable garment is that it remains stylish and timeless years later, as does this designer garment. Karl has left a big hole in the world of fashion; he was unmistakably one of our lifetimes greats.
