Exceptional Jeanne Lanvin Castillo haute couture watercolor floral gown dating back to the early 1950's. According to two fashion experts, this designer label with the red 'Paris' was used from 1945 through 1954. Castillo was invited by Jeanne Lanvin's daughter to design for her mother's firm in Paris, with hopes of relaunching the firm's name. Jeanne Lanvin, the founder of the house, had died in 1946 and the salon needed someone to maintain it's traditions. From 1950 to 1962 the House of Lanvin-Castillo was known for elegant clothes and flattering silhouettes. This captivating dress is fashioned in the highest quality watercolor floral garden print silk-taffeta in shades of green, yellow, purple and red. The bodice has an alluring wide slight off-shoulder design which tapers into an hourglass nipped waist. I adore the matching wide fringed sash belt which is French glamour at its finest. The elegant pleated full skirting is a pure work of art and study in dressmaking technique. Breathtaking and totally timeless.
