Madame Gres felt that the true job of the couturier was not to create a name for one's self, as many designers do, but to pay rigorous attention to the clothing. This stunning navy-blue crepe & silk-velvet gown, dating back to the late 1970's, has so much detail you can tell it was made with loving devotion. The bodice is a seductive asymmetric one-shoulder grecian goddess design. The beautiful column skirt with a side-slit, finished this dress off with the perfect "femme fatale" vibe. Grès had an extraordinarily long career, working until the late 1980's. Throughout this period, which encompassed huge changes in fashion, her work remained consistent and timeless. Any one of her elegant gowns could be seen walking a red carpet today.
