Breathtaking Pierre Balmain Paris haute couture ensemble dating back to his 1972 Spring/Summer collection. Pierre Balmain worked under Robert Pigiuet, Molyneux, and Lucian Lelong, where he worked closely with Christian Dior. In 1945 is finally opened his own couture house. Balmain created a very sculptural quality which was always allied with a ladylike essence. His garments have a body and a shape of their own. This gorgeous dress and jacket set is a wonderful example of his genius. The fabric used are of the highest quality; graphic floral silk-organza in beautiful shades of blue, purple and beige. The dress is an elegant sleeveless shift with built in scarf-tie neckline. The matching jacket is a statement in it's own right! I adore the tiered-ruffle trim on both the cuffs and hemline. This figure flattering ensemble accentuates the bust and skims the hip in such an elegant way. Balmain's glamorous garments were worn by the likes of Bridget Bardot, Katherine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich and I can surely see why.
