Breathtaking and highly desirable Giorgio Sant' Angelo bohemian cotton dress straight from Zsa Zsa Gabor's wardrobe. This dress dates back to 1970, at the height of his career, after Diana Vreeland asked him to create clothing for a desert location shoot that starred Verushka. This 1968 shoot was legendary and his clothing was instantly sought out by all the most fashionable women on the planet. He brought gypsy and peasant style to fashion before Yves Saint Laurent famously did so in 1969. Rejecting the decade’s Space Race influences, the vinyl mod shapes and stark, stiff fabrics, he looked to the Incas, Navajos and Eskimoes for modern beauty. This vibrant mixed print documented dress, fashioned in mid-weight cotton and embroidered ribbon, is a perfect example of his genius. I adore the front hidden zipper design and heart button billow-sleeves. The chic drop-waist pleated skirting makes this garment so comfortable and effortless to wear. A rare piece of true wearable art. The pictures say it all.
